For teachers: Giving space to the Middle East conflict - making Israel and Palestine discussable

Session

April 25, 10:00–11:30

Pattenhalle - Café

It is not only since 7 October 2023 that students have had a great need to talk about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. They want to express their emotions, understand what is happening on the ground and be able to categorise debates in Germany. In our workshop, we will work out how you as a teacher can create a space in which the conflict can be discussed. In particular, we will look at social conditions in the field of tension between post-national socialist, post-migrant and post-colonial discourses and show which pedagogical approaches and methods are suitable for dealing with the topic in a controversial and multi-perspective way. We will practise ways of dealing with anti-Semitic and racist statements in the context of the Middle East conflict and look at the role that social media, especially TikTok, plays for young people as a place for information and exchange.

Service note:

The workshop is for teachers. You can register your class and attend the workshop during your visit to TINCON. We will be happy to issue you with a confirmation of participation. Please register by email to tickets@tincon.org.
