Spiders, butterflies, even horseshoes; longings, vulnerability, even nudity, naked not nude. In her works, Julia Jesionek tells of needs, conflicts and secrets with an honest cheerfulness. They are told in pictorial worlds, hybrid consisting of fictitious places and places that already exist - inside or there, when people feel unobserved.

Soft and intense at the same time, a smiling pause and checks in between are characteristic of her drawings and paintings. Recurring protagonists and characters suggest a self-portrait. The palpable ambivalence quickly makes it clear that the exhibition goes beyond mere narrative.
