Car park guerrilla concert with Beat!Beat!Beat!

Embracing the interior design frenzy gripping Cologne in the form of the Passagen, Frühstyle is celebrating Cologne Music Week by venturing amongst designers. And where do designers hang out? Right! In galleries! The stars of the guerrilla gig on Tuesday 19th January in the Franta Gallery are Beat!Beat!Beat!, one of Germany’s most promising young indie bands. The car park concert is followed by »Frühstyle Classic« with Pille Popstar in the Barracuda Bar.

Things kick off at 8pm with Beat!Beat!Beat!, four lads from the attractive town of Viersen whose The Whitest Boy Alive and Foals-influenced sound has quickly earned them some serious attention. Their first EP was a talking point not just in Germany, but thanks to the internet also made its way into the playlists of numerous international bloggers. This unusual concert might well be the last chance to see the band in such an intimate venue. The lads will perform in the window of the gallery while the audience get to make themselves comfortable with a few bottles of Kölsch on the covered (and heated) parking deck in front of it. Just for the record, one of the band’s songs is actually called »You’re A Designer«...

After that, we recommend a quick transfer to Stadtgarten, where at 10pm Jeannel will appear (free admission!). A native of Cologne, Jeannel first turned heads with the electro project MALK and is now continuing to do so as a solo artist. Her performance in the Stadtgarten restaurant will be the first time she has appeared with a band.

The evening is rounded off in the Barracuda Bar, a legendary venue in Cologne’s Belgian Quarter where Pille Popstar will bring the Frühstyle night to a fitting conclusion. Pille has been a feature of the Cologne scene for years, whether as a skater, the resident DJ at »Like« or a guest at parties such as »123 Rakete« or »Rhythmusgymnastik«.
