C/O POP AND SOUND OF COLOGNE @ SXSW!
As every year, the South by Southwest festival (SXSW – 12-21 March) in Austin, Texas is set to present the newest trends in music, film and technology. Over the past few years the festival has become one of the scene’s most important gatherings and a true trend barometer.
The event is a must for all artists aiming for or in possession of worldwide hype status. It goes without saying that c/o pop and Sound of Cologne will be in Austin again this year to discover new trends and present German artists.
Supported by the German Ministry of Economics, Initiative Musik, together with the cities of Berlin, Hamburg and Cologne, has issued invitations to a very special event. Wunderbar promises to deliver just what the name promises, and c/o pop and Sound of Cologne will be there to represent the Rhineland. Along with good food provided by the chefs of Berlin’s Bar 25, there will be a live performance by Matias Aguayo and a DJ set by Tobias Thomas.

The joint German evening is not to be the only showcase with German involvement at SXSW. Inevitably, Cologne’s premier league electronic label Kompakt looks set to make the biggest impact in Austin, hand in hand with the American online magazine and indie bible Pitchfork. In the legendary Emo's, the only German artist of the evening is Matias Aguayo, also from, you guessed it, Cologne. A few blocks away, in the Beauty Bar, Tomlab and Niobe will also be spreading the city’s sound, and a little further down the street so too will Karaoke Kalk, who still carry Cologne in their name and in their hearts.
Many members of the German delegation are also from Cologne, including everyone from King Georg, c/o pop, the booking team from Grand Hotel van Cleef etc. In short, anyone wanting to talk about Can or Karlheinz Stockhausen in Texas shouldn’t have a problem.
