C/O POP FESTIVAL 2010 - FIRST PROGRAMME OVERVIEW:

Changes are afoot at c/o pop: not only is it taking place 2 months earlier this year than previously, from 23 – 28 June 2010, it’s also moving to the other side of the Rhine. That’s right: c/o pop has finally found a permanent home (at least for the next few years!) in the Staatenhaus am Rheinpark (Rheinparkhallen).
Despite the many changes, though, the festival will still feature all the projects and parties its visitors have come to know and love.
Things kick off on Wednesday with a concert by Klee in Stadtgarten. The band headed by Suzie Kerstgens has been one of Cologne’s export hits for years and will play the first gig in Cologne more than two years.

Shantel
and the Bucovina Orkestar will be live guests at Gloria, opening the artist’s “Disco Partizani”. In the last few years, Shantel and his project have been a huge hit with audiences all over Europe.
For the duration of c/o pop, Stadtgarten will become International Park. The festival network Europareise is to use the venue to present international bands and live acts, with a particular focus on France and Scandinavia. Among many other exciting showcases, extremely danceable pop music will be provided in Studio 672 by The Popopopops and Jamaica.
Friday begins furiously in Gloria with a concert by Britain’s The Go! Team, here to give the audience a taste of their new album.
Like last year, the Opernterrassen are to be transformed into the city centre’s hottest party location. Thursday starts with a label night by Get Physical. Featured acts include M.A.N.D.Y., DJ T. and Thomas Schumacher.

A large chunk of Friday is dedicated to Ed Banger, with performances by Uffie, Busy P and Mr. Flash.
Pack your whistles and vuvuzelas on Saturday for a gathering of the international baile funk scene. The Brazilian legend Edu K meets the Munich party grenades Schlachthofbronx, Man Recordings boss Daniel Haaksman meets the Argentine rising star Douster. Support will be provided as part of the Local Heroes club night by the boys from the »Favela Blast« party.
As in 2009, Saturday is all about the local scene. The action starts in the late afternoon in the Belgian Quarter, where Chic Belgique will see concerts by upcoming artists being held in a number of the area’s trendy boutiques.
Afterwards, Cologne’s club scene gets to share and celebrate its wondrous variety at the Local Heroes club night. The spectrum ranges from indie to techno to baile funk, hip hop, reggae and drum ‘n’ bass. To mention one already confirmed DJ the disco legend Daniel Wang is appearing at »Toutes Directions« in Subway.
c/o pop wouldn’t be c/o pop without the legendary Kompakt party on Friday evening. The venue this time is the new Papierfabrik in Ehrenfeld, where Cologne all stars such as Michael Mayer and Superpitcher will be joined by the South American faction made up of Gui Boratto and the go getter Matias Aguayo, appearing this summer for the first time with his band.
One of the highlights of the grand finale looks set to be the concert by Die Sterne on Sunday in Stadtgarten. The evening will be rounded off with a DJ set by Munk & Telonius, who as well as having countless projects of their own on the go for their label Gomma are also responsible for Die Sterne’s new album.
