c/o pop again brings music industry and internet world together
At the music & culture convention a2n, taking place for the first time next week in Berlin, c/o pop and the industry magazine Musikwoche are taking the panel »Values 2.0 – intellectual property vs internet culture?« into the next round. (Thursday 17 September, 2 – 3.30 pm, Münze Berlin).
This discussion, which is as controversial as it is relevant, provoked a huge media response when it was aired at the c/o pop Convention in Cologne this August, and it will be fascinating to see what happens as it is taken further. The continuation of the dispute between representatives of very different positions on the issue of copyright in the digital age is aimed less at entrenching standpoints than bringing about solution-oriented dialogue. In order to make this possible, c/o pop has again managed to get the music industry and the internet world around the same table.
The guests once again include the press speaker of Germany’s Pirate Party, Christian Hufgard, and the editor-in-chief of Gulli.com, Lars Sobiraj. The other guests are Marc Chung (managing director, Freibank), Stefan Herwig (managing director, Dependent/Mindbase) and Micki Meuser (mediamusik e.V.). The panel will be moderated by Tim Renner (managing director, Motor FM and co-initiator of a2n).
The results, which will be of use to both the music industry and the independent scene, will then be delivered at the #conference in a joint presentation by Stefan Herwig and Lars Sobiraj, representing the music industry and the internet world respectively.
